Antony Garrard Newton Flew

filozof-4/antony fleww Antony Garrard Newton Flew, (11 Şubat 1923, Londra – 8 Nisan 2010, Londra),yılları arasında yaşamış İngiliz filozof. Analitik düşünce okuluna bağlılığıyla bilinir. Din felsefesiyle ilgili çalışmalarıyla tanınır.

Flew, geçmişte ateizmi kuvvetle desteklerdi, Tanrı hakkında bir kanıt ortaya çıkıncaya kadar ateizmin kabul edilmesi gerektiğini savunurdu. Ayrıca ölümden sonra hayat inancını, kötülük sorunsalına karşı özgür irade çözümünü ve Tanrı kavramının anlamını eleştirdi. Ancak 2004 yılında deizme döndüğünü açıkladı. Bunun ardından Tanrı Var: Dünyanın En Ünlü Ateisti Nasıl Fikir Değiştirdi (İngilizce: There is a God: How the World’s Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind) adlı kitabı Roy Abraham Varghese’nin katkılarıyla yayımladı. Kitabın yayımlanmasının ardından New York Times’ta çıkan ve Flew’un zihni melekelerini kaybetmekte olduğunu, asıl yazarın Varghese olduğunu öne süren bir makale yayımlandı. Konu hâlâ tartışmalıdır, PZ Myers ve Richard Carrier’in dahil olduğu bazı yazarlar iddiaları desteklerken diğerleri (Flew dahil) reddeder.

Flew Oxford, Aberdeen, Keele ve Reading Üniversitelerinde ve Toronto’daki York Üniversitesi’nde ders verdi. Gerçek İskoçyalı Yok Safsatasını ortaya atmasıyla ve Michael Dummett ile girdiği münazarayla tanınır.
